Questions and Answers

Q. I have been trying to find information on perineal stretching. So far no luck. Any suggestions?

A. There are several resources available. Some are on the web:

  • Perineal Massage

One of "my" moms in Lamaze class ordered some neat pamphlets from the ICEA catalog describing perineal massage for stretching the perineum for birth without episiotomy. It is illustrated and quite graphic but then it does need to be doesn't it?

I usually don't give it out on the first night of class since I don't always have people open to new ideas in my hospital based class. I like to lead them in gentley and win them over! The title is Prenatal Perineal Massage and the address for ICEA is:

    ICEA
    PO Box 20048
    Minneapolis, Minnesota 55420 USA
