Amanda's Birth
Well it started like this....I was 16 years old. I found out I was
pregnant..I was soo scared...I didn't have insurance, didn't know
anything about babies, and didn't know where to start. I got on
medicaid and started going to a Public Clinic...I didn't know I had
other choices, more options...I went once every 3 or 4 months never had
the same doctor, and never was told much..of course I didn't know what
to ask..I thought they wouldve known that and helped me out...I had
morning sickness really bad and was very dehydrated but they sent me
home at this point I haven't kept anything down for two weeks. Finally
that stopped at four months. Anyway I was getting closer and closer. I
had a sonogram at five months and they said my due date would be January
27. Well it was January 25, at 4 am. I started to feel cramping ..I
waited a couple of hours and took a shower, got dressed and woke my
husband up. Told him.. Went and walked and walked and walked and the
contractions were harder and harder and harder...Well it was time to go
to the hospital my contractions were 5 minutes apart..know...anyway...We
got there and they said that I wasn't dialated but 1 cm....So we went
home... where I screamed and screamed finally at 4am the next morning on
the 26 and they said your contractions are irregular go home..I was
crying and screaming and they sent me home.still 1cm. I walked and
walked and cryed and tried to keep my mind off it..that night I went
back to the hospital and they sent me home still 1cm...we decided to
walk around the hospital but went to my aunts after circaling the
hospital 3 times...I would wake up screaming every 11/2 ,2 minutes then
passing out, that morning around 5am on 27 I went back to the hospital
they finally admitted me...I was sent to a room with 6 other beds and 3
other moaning women...I had no medication but crying for something I
layed in that bed until 7or 8 at this point I don't remember...It was
finally time to push...I was on all fours, squatting, and lying
down...then they rolled me into a room a scary looking room where I was
to have here..I was too tired to cry or scream at this point finally
they had to cut me a little to get her out..they used that metal thing
to help pull her out...When she was finally out I started crying looking
at this swollen but beautiful looking baby.they told me Its A GIRL:!!!
Oh oh whats this, more contractions...I didn't know anything about the
placenta but soon I was pushing it out and then looking at this gross
bloody blob. Then I started to pass out but they made me hold her. I
felt like I was going to drop her.. yes he cut the cord...They were
about to sew me up when they noticed I was hem. the blood just gushed
out..they needed to give me a shot to stop it but needed to know what my
blood pressure was..well can you believe they didn't have one in the
room and couldn't get to one...so they just gave me the shot..thank god
nothing happened anyway I had beautiful 8lb 2 oz. baby at 9:15 pm on
Jan. 27..the due date..that was in 1992..Now I have 3 more beautiful
children and after my first experience I knew to ask more questions and
looked at more options to my care..i found out having my last three
children that I have trouble dialatating and keeping my contractiions
going...but I had better doctors, insurance, and one comfortable room to
have my babies in...I loved the experiences once I was in control of
what was going on around me...I have Gina 7lb 4ozbeautiflu baby girl two
weeks late at to be induced popped into nurses hands while the doctor
was getting his gloves on...Matthewat 6lbs ?oz induced he came out so
handsome true blue boy I was soo proud...And now remarried with a
wonderful man we had Chelsey 8lbs 14oz..my water broke but had to be
induced...no stitches...awsome birth.I am very proud of my beautiful
babies...
