My name is Courtney Taylor and I am now the proud mom of a nine
day baby girl. i enjoyed reading all of your birth stories so I thought
I would share mine.
My husband and I found out we were pregnant July 27,1997 and were
very shocked and very happy. My pregnancy went as could be expected I
was not very lucky and got hit hard with the morning sickness that was
not very much fun as many of you women know! around 32 weeks of being
pregnant I started to have contractions and they had to stop labor.
After that everything went fine. I was not due till April 3rd and was
hoping against hope that she would not come on April 1st in fact we
joked about it often and thought what a hoot it would be if that did
happen. I started having contractions on Saturday the 29th of march and
when I got to the hospital it took me 12 hours to dialate to a three so
they sent me home. My contractions continued for three days and then on
Tuesday March 31st at 9:00pm my contractions hit me hard. So we decided
to go to the hospital around 10:15 and the hospital was only 10 minutes
away. So when I got to the hospital I was sure that they would send me
home but my contractions only got worse. I was dialated to a four and
they were going to keep me. I was in a lot of pain and was having
trouble focusing on my breathing so the gave me stadol which made me
feel like I was drunk after two tries and a broken vain from the I.V the
drug started to work. I was okay then my doctor (who was awesome through
the whole thing along with my husband who was great support and I was so
happy that he was there)came in about 1:30 in the morning and the drug
was wareing off. So I received a paracervical which was great you feel
no pain when it administered and takes the pain away a short while I was
now dialated to a 6-7 and it was 2:00am. My doctor said that we would
have the baby by three. At 2:30 am I was ready but no one told me that
when you cervix is dialated to a ten there is no more left and the
paracervical did not work anymore. So there I was in all my glory and no
pain medication pushing. Then here comes the great part I am informed
that I am going to have an episotomy so the good doctor numbs me and
cuts me. I then was getting very mad and was yelling at everyone. My
poor husband kept getting on my I.V cord and it was tugging at my hand
which did not feel very good so I kept yelling at him to GET OFF MY
I.V!!!! and then the doctor informed me push once more and her head was
out and boy did that hurt! Can you belive that the doctor even left her
head there for a minute!haha I know that her mouth had be suctioned.i
thought the worst part was over nope here came her shoulders! After that
I looked down on my stomach after David my husband cut the cord and
there was my baby girl in all of her glory. I tell you that all the pain
in world was worth it for her. She was the best looking baby I had ever
seen and wow was I proud of her I stayed up all night just looking at
her little face. At 3:02 april 1st she entered the world and man am I
proud.
Thank you for listening,
Cashlyn's mom,
Courtney Taylor
