Jimmy's Birth

my story begins with an unplanned pregnancy. i already had a 12year old daughter and a 14 year old son. being 38 i was not even thinking of another child. anyway january 97 i found myself pregnant with #3. i was very scared. my other pregnancies were very good no problems with labor or delivery with either. i worried the entire pregnancy with this one. maybe because i was older, i dont know! anyway things were going okay early in the pregnancy, i was anemic but that was about it. my due date was october 14. i could not wait. of course the date came and went. a week had passed and i went to the doctor for a non-stress test just to see if everything was okay with the baby. i had an ultrasound to check to see how much he might weigh. i was quite large. they told me he weighed approximately 9lbs 4oz. i freeked out. my first weighed 9lbs and that was pretty rough. the doctor gave me an internal an told me that i was not dialated at all and i was not efaced. what was wrong i thought. we decided that i would be admitted into the hospital the following sunday which was 2 days from that visit to start medication into my cervix to start thinning of the cervix. that sunday evening i went to the hospital and the nurse put this jell into my cervix. they told me it could possibly put me into labor but it did not of course. in the morning i was checked again to see if i had dialated at all and finally i was 2cm. the doctor came in around 8am and decided to induce labor. i was releived but scared, thinking how much the contractions are when induced. any way they began quickley and got very painful so i asked for and epidural. what a dream!!!!! about 5 hours later i was fully dialated and ready to push. i had a nurse, midwife and jim to help me along. the midwife told me she could feel the babys head. we got very excited. i pushed and pushed but he would not come down. this went on for 2 hours. the doctor said that he would give me 20 more minutes but i was begging for a c-section. finally we all decided that i was too swollen inside my vagina and a section would be for the best. they gave me a spinal which took affect almost immediately. i was then wheeled into the birthing center or. jim came in just before my beautiful 9lb 8oz son came out. i must admitt i felt quite a bit of pain during the surgery but i didnt care it was finally over. i stayed in recovery for 1 hour and then they took me to my room where my son was waiting for me. i brought him right to my breast and he started nursing right away. my recovery after the section was a bit painful but i delt with it very well. i thank god for all three of my children and i'm sorry for all of the worry i put my new baby jimmy through while he was inside of me.
